Total Industrial Electrical Maintenance

Introduction:

This intensive 3-day training program is designed to equip individuals with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to perform basic maintenance tasks on industrial electrical equipment. The program caters to individuals with a basic understanding of electrical principles, but no prior experience in an industrial setting is required.

Objectives:

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Apply safe work practices in an industrial electrical environment.
  • Identify and understand the different types of industrial electrical equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance procedures on various electrical components.
  • Troubleshoot common electrical problems and safely isolate equipment for repairs.

Day 1

  • Electrical Safety: Introduction to electrical safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE), grounding and bonding, lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Electrical Fundamentals: Review of basic electrical concepts like voltage, current, resistance, power, and Ohm’s Law.
  • Industrial Electrical Equipment: Introduction to common industrial electrical equipment like motors, transformers, switchgear, control panels, and lighting systems.
  • Maintenance Practices: Introduction to preventive maintenance procedures for various electrical equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection.

Day 2:

  • Troubleshooting Techniques: Introduction to troubleshooting methodologies, identifying common electrical faults, and safe use of basic test equipment like multimeters.
  • Motor Maintenance: Specific maintenance procedures for different types of industrial motors, including visual inspection, bearing lubrication, and starter contact cleaning.
  • Control Panel Maintenance: Introduction to control panel components like relays, contactors, timers, and understanding basic control circuits.
  • Hands-on Activities: Participants will participate in practical exercises involving safe work practices, equipment identification, and basic maintenance procedures.

Day 3:

  • Industrial Lighting Systems: Maintenance of different industrial lighting systems, including incandescent, fluorescent, and LED lighting.
  • Recordkeeping and Reporting: Importance of documentation in electrical maintenance, maintenance logs, and reporting procedures.
  • Electrical Maintenance Resources: Introduction to relevant industry standards, codes, and resources for further learning.
  • Assessment: Participants will be assessed through a written exam and a practical demonstration of their acquired skills.

Conclusion:

Upon successful completion of this training program, participants will receive a certificate of completion and will be better prepared to contribute to the safe and efficient maintenance of industrial electrical systems. They will possess the foundation to further develop their skills and knowledge in this specialized field.
